The student’s main job will be the digital simulation of biotechnological processes and data collection and manipulation in a bioreactor. More specifically, these tasks consist of:

– Simulation of control systems using MATLAB / SIMULINK. Parameter identification methods and self-tuning controllers developed within the scope of  this project must be validated by simulation in a wide range of processes. The student will undertake these simulations, organizing his/her results for further analysis.
– Collection of experimental data in the real bioreactor that will be used to test the identification and control methodologies developed in this project.

The student must be familiar with basic systems theory (Systems and Signals) and must be motivated to apply advanced mathematical tools to practical problems.
